A Word About Color

Capitol´s wide variety of color is one reason why more discriminating homeowners, architects, and professional landscapers choose our concrete paver over other types of paving materials. Of course, they are attracted to the large assortment of shapes we offer and the multitude of patterns and designs our pavers can create, but it´s our distinctive colors they really love.

We use only the finest iron oxides for long lasting, durable colors. Micro granules of pure pigment disperse into rich colors when blended with a special concrete mixture. Our pavers are saturated with color throughout, not just on the face.

Here’s some straight talk about colorfastness, which is the measurement of how fade resistant a pigment is when exposed to the elements over a period of time. The pigments used in manufacturing Capitol’s pavers meet the requirements of ASTM C979 which means the pigments are stable under exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and are alkali and weather resistant.

All pavers are subject to environmental elements including everyday occurrences like pollution, acid rain, dirt, traffic and many other factors. To contend with these harsh elements and help best maintain the vibrancy of your pavers, you may want to consider using paver sealer and occasional power washing.

Because Capitol Pavers are made from natural materials, variations in shade can be expected. Blended colors may fluctuate in color range from production run to production run, some showing more of one shade, some more of another and some a fairly even blend of both. It is imperative when installing blends to choose from several pallets to best allocate these ranges. No single color swatch or display can precisely replicate the range you may receive.
